The Fly Bye’s Story
The Fly Bye’s was founded in 2015 by myself, Garrett Ford. I grew up in Bishop’s Falls, Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada, where I became hooked on salmon fishing at a young age. My dad started taking me fly fishing at the age of 7, just a few walking minutes from home, on the Exploits River. The Exploits River is one of the best salmon fishing rivers in North America and the gem of our little, rural town, Bishop’s Falls. The majesty and serenity of the River and its surroundings is almost as addictive as the thrill of hooking a wild Atlantic salmon.

Once I stated building rods, I noticed a need in Newfoundland for a rod that was better than what was available. I reached out to Geoff Pieroway and started gaining an expertise on rod building and using his line as blanks. We started with three rods with a map of the Exploits River on the handle. Since this point we have developed a friendship and partnership to make custom built rods for happy customers throughout Newfoundland and beyond and hope you to be our next happy customer.
Since this point The Fly Bye’s has sold rods to happy customers all over our island and its my hope you will be next.
